Akompi Support Soon on the App Store

Touch a chord. The band plays.

This is the app's screen, with the app's own sounds: a whole band under your fingers, on your iPhone or iPad.

The whole band reads the same song.

Send one link. Everyone opens it on their own phone or tablet, with nothing to install.

They read the whole song while you play. The chord you're on lights up.

Each of them chooses how to read it: guitar shapes, a capo, letters or numbers. The singer sees one thing, the guitarist another, and the song is the same.

The band's page on a phone: a song in parts, one chord lit, with guitar shapes above the song.
Akompi on an iPhone: a whole screen of chords, the instruments on top and one instrument's volume and length.

A band, not just chords.

Bass, guitar, piano, organ, strings and pad each play their own part, so they fill the sound instead of doubling each other. The bass walks, the guitar strums real shapes, the pad holds it all together.

Slide your finger up on a chord and the band gets louder, down and it gets softer. Press +1 and the last chorus goes up a whole tone.

Write a song by playing it.

Play the chords and they write themselves down, part by part: verse, chorus, the order you play them in.

The singer wants it higher tonight? One touch moves the whole song to another key.

Ready for the stage.

The screen stays on. Calls come as a silent banner, so no ringtone goes through the sound system. It needs no internet and no account to play.

Why it exists

I've played guitar for over thirty years, nearly twenty of them in my church. I play by ear and taught myself theory, because harmony is what I love.

At the end of September I fell off my bike, and my left hand went into a cast. Suddenly I couldn't play.

That night I tried every chord app I could find. None of them worked the way an accompanist thinks: the chords of the key right there, the special ones one tap away, no menus.

So I built one. A month later I played a whole service with it, one hand on my phone.
